The upbeat to the first subscription concert of the series New Orchestral Works will be provided by a role model for many composers of our time: Ludwig van Beethoven. If we imagine just how free and unburdened his creative spirit was at the time of the conformist music of Haydn and Mozart, we can conclude that his determined and uncompromising approach served as a guide not only for Karl Amadeus Hartmann, a composer who is all too seldom performed in Slovenia, but also for Wolfgang Rihm, who wrote his Symphony No. 1 at the age of just seventeen, as well as for Slovenia’s own Matej Bonin. The latter has contributed the concertante piece Eppur si muove No. 4, in which virtuosos Oskar Laznik and Simon Klavžar will shine.
