The Christian tradition of experiencing Christ’s suffering and resurrection continually touches upon current events that affect human relationships on both the personal and collective level. Morales’ Renaissance polyphony is introduced into the compositions Funeral Ikos and Little Requiem by John Tavener, one of the most prominent English composers of sacred music. In Ešenvalds’ composition Passion and Resurrection, which will be interpreted by soprano Mojca Bitenc Križaj, the voice of Mary Magdalene addresses us with a quiet radiance, leading to resurrection and a new beginning.
