In 2024, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Anton Bruckner. In his home town of Sankt Florian, the Austrian composer was fond of sitting at an organ made by the Slovenian master instrument builder Fran Ksaver Križman. In fact, the instrument was so important to Bruckner that he requested in his will to be laid to rest in the crypt directly beneath it. Bruckner’s late vocal-instrumental work Te Deum represents the ultimate expression of his deep religiosity. In Edward Elgar’s Sursum corda and Damijan Močnik’s new work, the composers also pay homage to the composer’s affinity for the world of organ music.
