Maria Włoszczowska conductor and violinist
There are few musical personalities who, in addition to their superb execution of the most demanding works, also have a special gift for conducting, but the exceptional Polish violinist Maria Włoszczowska is certainly one of them. Among other works, our guest musician will present Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, which was premiered in 1806 by conductor and concertmaster Franz Clement. Unfortunately, he was given the sheet music by Beethoven only two days before the performance, which meant that he virtually had to sightread his part. Beethoven acknowledged his responsibility for the situation with his dedication to the soloist: “Concerto par Clemenza pour Clement” (Concerto with Clemency for Clement).
