“One afternoon, my mother and I were drinking coffee and talking about death and the transience of life. She jokingly said to me: ‘Well, when I die, you’ll probably write me a requiem.’ I was deeply moved by this conversation and it inspired me to write a composition that weaves together her melodies, lullabies and her voice, which I want to preserve for eternity. It is a work that she can experience here, in this world, before she sheds her mortal coil and sets out into the infinite.”
