A key representative of the British musical tradition, Edward Elgar had enormous respect for Johannes Brahms, particularly his mastery of orchestration and his ability to craft themes and create dramatic contrasts. In Elgar’s own works, he often looked to his German predecessor in a desire to achieve equally deep emotional expression and a create a sound combining both power and sensitivity. The new work MovEmentO by the young composer and member of the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir Federica Lo Pinto is also in dialogue with the Romantic tradition.
