Reflecting on music, the honorary member of the Slovenian Philharmonic Lojze Lebič said: “Good music requires grace, and only then skill. Music is therefore first a higher awareness, and only then, with the help of theory and science, a comprehensible aesthetic object. Music is also an act of love.”
These thoughts can easily be applied to Slovenia’s excellent conductor Marko Letonja, as well as to composers Béla Bartók and György Ligeti. In 2023, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ligeti’s birth.
