A Little Funeral Music / PC 1
Programme
Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra
Heinz Holliger, conductor
The central composition of the concert is the moving Nonet in E-flat minor by Franz Schubert, which he probably subtitled himself as a song for his own funeral. It was created when the composer was only sixteen years old. Schubert’s music invites us to our own inner world, provoking in-depth reflection on our fragility, transience and longing. A unique perspective on Schubert’s music will be provided by Swiss composer Roland Moser, with a wonderful reflection on Schubert’s funeral music and the orchestration of Schubert’s unfinished works.
