I am deeply honoured and profoundly grateful to have been chosen as the Principal Conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. The trust and confidence placed in me by the orchestra members and Artistic Director Matej Šarc fill me with humility and a sense of profound responsibility.
Our journey ahead is guided by the rich history and remarkable achievements of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Since its beginning, this orchestra has been known for its excellence and dedication, captivating audiences with its music. Every member has played a part in building its legacy, shaping Slovenia’s cultural scene and touching the hearts of many.
I am particularly grateful for the unforgettable experiences I have shared with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, including our performances of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony. These moments of musical transcendence have left an indelible mark on me, reminding me of the transformative power of music to uplift and inspire. It is my fervent hope that we will continue to create such magical moments together in the years to come.
Looking ahead, I am excited about the myriad possibilities for collaboration and exploration that lie before us. Our future repertoire will be as diverse as it is enchanting, spanning classical masterpieces, contemporary compositions and Slovenian pieces, which I am particularly thrilled to conduct. Exploring Slovenian music will enrich our performances and also deepen my understanding of the culture and heritage of this remarkable country. Together, we will embark on a musical journey that celebrates the richness and diversity of the human experience, inviting audiences to join us on an unforgettable adventure.
I am particularly thrilled to have the opportunity to conduct Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring as my inaugural concert with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. This piece holds remarkable personal significance for me and has played a pivotal role in my career. I am delighted to share this cherished work with our audience, and I believe it will be a memorable moment for us all.
